lighting a 46 g bowfront

Would a 36 in 4 bulb t5 HO with moonlights be enough to grow pretty much any coral in my tank or will I need 6 bulb or MH?

This is a 20"-21" tall tank? I would think you could keep sps towards the top, and use high end lamps and you would be ok. I would use the 6 lamp myself though. Definitely not a halide situation, because metal halide lamps generally cover a 2 x 2 area, and you would then need 2 to evenly light your tank. That would be a waste of energy.

Well with my tank I have it scaped with rocks on one side working down to sand and an open area so I really only need to light the left half of my tank and ya its 21" I think but if I would do the 6 bulb and moonlights would I be able to house corals that demand high lighting or should I stick with moderate-high

6 lamps would allow you to keep whatever you want.

What corals do you intend to keep? If you are considering keeping acropora, I would look for something that uses 3 watt LEDs. As far as the tank dimensions are concerned, you are going to have some difficulty finding a single fixture to span the entire tank. I would seriously consider making one.
