in most cases the T12 endcaps can except the T8 bulbs its just a matter of what type of ballast was used in the fixture as to wether or not it will be compatable in the future.. if it has a magnetic T12 ballast when it comes time to put T8's bulbs in it, it might be time to replace the ballast.. (alot of new T12 fixtures have electronic T8 ballasts in them for some reason now so you might have gotten off easy.. LOL)
