(Apologies if this is in the wrong place)

I hope to start my first planted tank in the next couple of days and I was wondering what kind of lights will I need? What kind of wattage? Do they need to be UV? My tank will be 10 gallons and I'll probably have anubias and java moss or similar beginner plants. Thank you!

((Edit: I realize now this should have probably gone in 'getting started'. Sorry!))

Actually you can also post in Freshwater > Planted Tanks
:)

For easy plants like those I used a cheap stock screw in incandescent hood and swapped in Mini CFLs. 10-13 watts each works fine. I use ZooMed Ultra Sun 6,500K They cost about $8 on Amazon.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I think I've got the right lights now.
