Looking for the nice blue tint look.......

I have a 175 DIY metal halide 10k system up and running right now but it does not like blue enough for me. Any way of making the water have a nice blue tint? the store by me has 10w actinic retro fixtures for 22 bucks each. Will 2 of them help?

Yes, actinic lighting is what is going to give you that blue look. What size tank do you have? 10W actinics aren't very big but will give you the look you are describing.

Or you could get 14k MH bulbs. That's what I have.

Tank is 37 gal, I don't need the extra lighting I just want the look, but I guess every watt helps. Plus i heard actinic is good for your corals.

If you can get them in there buy two of them and it should do the trick... You definitely have a lot of light in there!

Ya 5 watts per gallon after the acintics! I guess i can grow basically anything i want?

The actinics would help. If you do not want to go that route try a 14k or even a 20K MH bulb instead of the 10K. It will have more blue in it.

I think the 14K is a happy medium. For more blue, the 20K will suffice.
