Where can one get a ballast for around a 20 watt bulb, other than out of a store bought aquarium hood?

If it's a standard fluorescent bulb your local hardware store should have replacement ballast. As it will require you to rewire the fixture, you may want to leave this for the professional. Most times it's cheaper to buy a complete new fixture than just a ballast. I have used a complete under counter fixture (less plastic lens) inside a hood, as long as it fits.
