I was thinking about getting one, for ammonia or PH, but I was wondering, are these things accurate or are they totally useless?

In a new tank, the ammonia one will work great, to show your cycling. But once the tank is cycled, then it's totally useless because you shouldn't have any ammonia anyways. It will always read 0ppm. And as for how long they actually last and how accurate, not sure.

I have both. The pH one seems to register although it's unclear how accurate - it is for now. The Ammonia LiveNH one seems totally worthless. My kit says there is a lot of ammounia (1.5 or so) which was just recently dealt with using Ammo Lock 2. Nothing registers on the LiveNH which always shows the water is safe. Don't know how reliable it is and feel like I wasted a lot of money.
