i just got my maxjet 1200 today, and i was wondering what the concesus was about using the air venturi or not? is it needed, or just use the ph alone?

Most in SW do not use the venturi. I have three in my tank, all without.

don't bother with the venturi... unless you're using a canister filter or something, it's likely your tank has all the oxygen it needs.
if in doubt, or you want to stir up surface to keep it from skumming up, direct flow from PH to the surface, this will also increase gas exchange (more O2).
