I have pc ligthing on a tank now and would like to change to MH. Do MH have to be hung or can they sit on on a glass hood. The tank is a 44 pentagon and my PC lighting sits on top.

They could sit on top of the tank but given their heat output I wouldnt sit them directly on top of a glass hood. Infact you will most likly end up removing the glass cover over the tank due to temperature issues. You can construct a canopy that sits on the top of the tank that has the bulb 8-12" above the water surface or you can get a pendant fixture and suspend it above the tank.
