Mopani Wood

Never used Mopani wood before and wondering if it leaches tannins like other driftwood? Very interesting shapes, but don't want tea colored water.
 
It probably leaches WORSE than most driftwoods. You'll need to boil it for a very long time or soak it for weeks to get it past the "tea" stage.

Oh man does this wood leach. I soaked mine for. 3 weeks and added it and it still turned the water a dark tea. Boil or soak for a while and it's fine. Tannins are harmless. But you can add some carbon it purigen to remove it from the water
 
Great!! Guess I will get the plastic trash can out and fill it with water. Thanks for the heads up.
