Hi I live in Melbourne and everything is really expensive so I looked on deal extreme and found a light ( search light fish tank) please tell me what you think.

Look on eBay for cheap lights or guppy'saquarium. I don't see any link in your post. Did you mean to post one?
Another option is to have a looks at bunnings, fantastic furniture or ikea for clip on desk lamps.
