need overflow box teeth filter suggestion

Our Tenecor 150 gallon freshwater has the overflow filter system. Fish are always getting trapped/sucked in here. Would a fishnet material over the teeth be suggested to allow water flow put stop fish taking a ride to filter heaven? Anyone have solutions or suggestions?

People have used nylon stocking or coarse filter sponge to stop things from getting into the overflow. You do have to make sure that whatever you use, the flow isn't restricted so much that it won't handle the pump return.

Fiberglass window screen works well too...just make sure you remove and clean it regularly.
