New filter

I have a 55g saltwater tank and I want to get a new filter. I'm leaning towards a fluval 306 which I get online for only 110!!! I want this filter because it is rated up to 70 gallons and it is energy efficient and only uses 16 watts of power.

Or should I invest in a protein skimmer since I do no have one? Trying to chose a cost effective approach.

Anyone have any suggestions or opinions?

I would go with the protein skimmer. Do you have a sump?

No I just have a normal hob filter

I've seen a product called the skilter it's a combination filter and skimmer, I don't have any experience with these because I've only done fw so far but I'm sure there are others on this site that may know more about it
