New protein skimmer

I just got the aqualife 115 mini, and its producing alot of water in the collection cup.. Like a half cup every 5 minutes.. Theres an adjustment knob but i think its as low as i can turn it.. Is this something thats dies down as it breaks in? The waste isnt even a darker color it just has a strong smell..

i would just let it run for a few days and see if it levels out. the first few threads i read on it were only complaints about micro bubbles. no one complained about it overflowing from what i saw.

Im pretty new to protein skimmers but i understand how they work, do i run it so the foam flows into the collection cup? Or do it under it so the foam stays in the column? When i run it past the column the cup fills up fairly quickly still

i would run it so foam barely meets the neck inside the skimmer cup. at least while it's new.
