New skimmer

How long should a new skimmer (Euro-Reef) run before it settles down and begins to work? Mine has been running for 48 hours and it is still overflowing white foam everywhere. TIA Jamie

I just got a Euro-Reef last week, and it is skimming like mad. I think the directions I got said to let it go for 4 hours before adjusting it, then follow what they say depending on what kind of foam youre looking for.

My Euro Reef foamed heavily for about 2 days before it began to settle down. Even beyond that, it took nearly a week before bubbles stopped escaping out the outflow.

That is your best bet. Let some slime build up in it. I will say that the skimmate/foam that comes out of mine stinks unless I clean it every other day. I feel better knowing that junk is not in the water.
