New XP1 - How long should I run both filters?

I just bought and setup a new Xp1 on my 35 gal hex, and I am curious how long I should run both my old HOB filter and the new canister at the same time? I want to insure when I disconnect the old filter I do not end up having any kind of mini cycle.

2 weeks should be fine.....

If you can take the old filter media from your hob and cram it in your Xp1, that will take care of it if you're anxious to get the HOB off.

After getting my XP2, Neilans way worked. After two days, I just took my media from the HOB and stuck it in one of the baskets and I never even saw a mini cycle.

Thanks guys. I think I will take my old filter and add it to the XP1 for a couple of weeks and it sounds like I should be in good shape.
