The Oceanic brand will say Oceanic on the outside of the tank, usually on the trim. I'm not sure how to tell the difference between All-Glass and Perfecto. You may want to call your lfs and ask them how you can tell them apart. We called about ours and it was something about a model number being on the tank. I forget what though.

just a guess from the picture i'd say a stinkpot or mississippi mud
possibly a pianted turtle
a stink pot will be a small turtle i think 6 inches max
missisippi muds are also small painted turtles i think are around the same size as sliders

You did post it, and I posted the turtle, lol

I am still wondering how I know what kind of tank I have. I checked the sites for each type, i am almost sure muine is All-Glass and the 48 inch hood doesnt explain if its a set or a full 48 inch hood so I wrote the company, we shall see what they say.

I just re-joined your thread Dragon...if you've already posted a description of the tank (I'll take a look) I can probably ID it.

Thank you. I can't find any letters or numbers anywhere, maybe they are underneath but the thing is too heavy for me to lift, even empty! I suspect its All-Glass, I went to the websites and compared All-Glass and Perfecto (ruled out oceanic) and the trim matched more closely to All-Glass, also features they listed were consistant with my tank.

I think I agree that maybe its a MIssisspii Mud turtle, arent they usually more expensive than sliders? If so we got a deal. Its laready 6 inches so it probably not the other one. If its a Mississippi Mud i sure hope it can handle winter in the high desert.

If the trim around the tank has a "lip" around it, it more than likely is an All-Glass. If not, it's a Perfecto. For the record, Oceanic and All-Glass merged their operations several years ago. Oceanic (an "upscale" tank company) needed more exposure and All-Glass already had an established customer base.

You're in luck....since it's all-glass, hood and light strips will be easy to find. Check out bigalsonline...tons of all-glass equipment.

Your LFS may also have them but are a little pricey.
