Newbie question about skimmers

Just bought a 75 gallon saltwater tank. Came with a Sealife model 100 wet dry filter with a Sealife 75 sump protein skimmer. After getting it home I cleaned the skimmer and collection cup because it had a lot of algae on it. Now I'm getting a lot of bubbles in the sump water thats being injected into my tank. I have tried adjusting the air intake but nothing seems to help. Any Ideas how to prevent this or is this normal? Will the bubbles fade over time after the filter runs awhile?

Thank in advance

Chris

After cleaning the skimmer, it will need to break in again, the bubbles should lessen in a day or two of running. Does the water free fall from the skimmer to the sump? If so you can have it dump onto a sponge (AC 500 sponges work well for this) and that will trap most of the bubbles.

Yes the water free falls into the sump. I will give it a few days if it dose not clear up I will try the sponge.
