Odyssea lights/junk advise.

I know odyssea's rep for being junk but I needed some regular lights for dusk effect in my tank. I looked around and aquatraders had the 48" T5 lights on sale, plus you got additional discounts if you purchased 4 of more. I purchased 4 of them. In less than a month only one bulb on each light works. I have replaced bulbs with no change. Oddly enough the same bulb on every light is not working. I called them but only got a guy saying "me no understand. Send email" Well multiple emails later I still have no response and also have not been able to get them on the phone. My question is can the ballast in these things be changed out easy or is it a pain due to their compact design? Should I just throw them away and purchase some good lights? I am just looking for some opinions/experience. [acronym:4a0bb455a5="Thanks in Advance"]TIA[/acronym:4a0bb455a5]

If your just looking for dusk/dawn lighting I would try these.
I have 2 of the 48" actinic bulbs lights on my reef and they are great. They come on at 7 and go off at 10, on all day. Very nice compact lighting system and they can be daisy chained together. I have had them almost 2 years with no issues.

I just bought a 36 inch odyssea unit for a planted tank and am very happy with it. Maybe you should contact a different vendor and tell them the situation. Possibly there is a fix for it and maybe whoever you used was selling factory seconds..

I bought lights from them with no complaints (fan is noisy and the legs are shoddy) but I expected this as much.) I did gut my 24 inch fixture and used the parts to build a hood for it. I have no experience with their T5s though. Customer service was lousy [acronym:9f0d8d8eb4="In My Experience"]IME[/acronym:9f0d8d8eb4].

I bought from the above folks...talked to a "quin" at extension 89, he was quite helpful.
