Overflow

I had an idea for an overflow without drilling my tank, and without one of those unreliable overflows. My idea was this:
Use an external pump to pump water from my DT to the sump then another from the sump to the DT. This is a 55gal so im going to go with 250-300 for drain and around 500 for return. Im assuming the drain pump will be at or more than the rated and the return less than rated b/c of head.
 
You're just asking for disaster. If you don't get the two pumps perfectly tuned to each other's flow, one of the two tanks is going to overflow.........
