Overflow options?

Ok I bought a new 120 all glass aquarium that I am going to make my reef tank. I know I am drilling a three pipe stand pipe setup, my question is I have seen a lot of people do 1.5" or 2" bulbheads and plumbing, anyone have any Input. I would assume that the 2" would have more flow but how much and is there a noise difference?? I plan on running about 1500gph.

Going that large really isn't for the flow as much as it is avoiding clogs. If in not mistaken I believe 2" can flow up to 3500gph under just gravity.

Thanks. I think I will be going with 1.5 just cause I am going with three down pipes and 2" seems a little overkill
