Overlfow making a ton of noise!!!

Think about it.
Would you put a shut off valve on the drain line on a sink? And if not....why? And if you should, do you normally install them?

I have two drains.

One that is the "main" with the valve on it. Creates a complete siphon making it completely silent. That's why you put a valve on a drain line.

The other is higher in the water and only drains water in the event that the main gets restricted.

What I don't get are return pumps that are restricted with a valve unless it is to divert flow or pressure to another function in the sump or system.
