Has anyone used Matrix (not Matrix Carbon) in a Penguin 200? I actually have 2 of them running on my tank, and was considering the following:

In HOB #1 - Filter floss in the first slot and Matrix filling the rest of the box.
In HOB #2 - Filter floss in the first slot, and Purigen behind it (I have 2 100mL bags there already, so I know this works fine).

What I'm concerned most about is stagnant water at the bottom of the box with Matrix, or am I just imagining things?

Well, I don't have a Marineland Penguin filter, but I do have one of my AquaClear 50s with Seachem Matrix in it. I have a foam block on the bottom and the rest is Matrix media. It sits next to another AC50 with two foam blocks and Fluval bio-media. Both filters are on a 29g. Some might say it's overkill; I call it gung-ho filtration.
