penguin or aquaclear

for some reason i have been getting told that the aquaclear is a better filter than the penguin. Which do u think is better? im setting up a cichid tank with sand.

Like I said in your other post I would reccomend the Aquaclear. I have no personal experience with the penguin, and I never said the AC was better, but I have two aquaclears and they work very well, and are very reliable. They are also a little cheaper.

What kind of cichlids are you getting? That may answer your Q. If you are getting cichlids that like calm water, you need a filter in which you can adjust the flow (AC).

I have never used a AC but do use the Penquin mini & 330. They are very good, quiet low maintence filters w/adjustable water flow.
A dog has lots of freinds because he wags his tail and not his tongue.

Never used a penguin, but i LOVE my AC's (I own 4 of them, various sizes on various tanks). The fact that they use a media basket, so you can more easily customize your filter media is the strongest selling point for me, second only to reliability.
Former advisor and planted tank geek...life's moved on though.
