Penn Plax cascade 300 Qs

So I currently have a flu al Chi, but while it looks nice, I really do not like the filtration. That's why I was thinking of getting a new filter. The one on the top of my list happens to be the penn plax cascade 300 internal filter.
My only question here is it safe for betta fish? It is going in a 6 gal tank.
Also bonus question: what do you think about the filter?

The filter output is directional, so you can adjust it in a way so that it is least disruptive to the potential Betta.
I have not used this filter but I have used similar. The spraybar will help spread out the flow. Being able to direct the flow and not being locked into proprietary cartridges are two pluses.
