How often do I change my phosphate media in my phosban reactor? The Kent Marine phosphate sponge I'm thinking of using says after a maximum of 2 days, phosphates can be re-released back into the water... Does this aforementioned re-release of phosphates happen in a reactor or only when you use media bags? Seems like I would be replacing phosphate media every day from my reactor, which does not seem reasonable.... Is there another phosphate media I could use that I can keep for longer that is reasonably priced?

Phosphate sponge is used to bring down phosphates quick, after the two days replace that with gfo. This will last around 3 to 5 weeks.

Yes you can start with GFO in the reactor.

You can either change the GFO after several weeks as Tomchong22 stated, or when detectable phosphates are detected in the reactor's effluent flow.

I use chemi-pure elite. I've had great success with it and I change it out every month or so.
