I am looking at diy sump/fuge (10 gal) and i was wondering if you had a powerful enough pwr head could you use it for a return pump? If so how big and good or bad idea? also what kind of lighting should i use for the sump/fuge?

I wouldn’t use your ph as a pump. Most aren’t designed for any pressure to be put against them. A Pod-Mag 3 should be adequate as a return for your 10 gal sump.

I believe the Maxijet 1200 is rated for something like 290 gph at probably only a couple feet of head. That's not a whole lot you know. I would stick with a regular pump such as a Mag.

Mag5 wont get you much presure either if you looking to use it as a part of your PH in your diplay. Well in a 29galoon it wont. Would probally be good for a 10gallon or 20 gallon display. Im selling my mag5 if you are interested.

A maxijet 1200 will acutally do about 6' of head but the output at 3' head or higher is much lower than the 295GPH. I use a maxijet1200 to fill my tank from a bucket for water changes and the flow is something like 1-2 gal a min at 4' head.

I would second the mag3 and put a ball valve on the outlet of the mag3 so you can throttle the pump if is to much flow at full speed.
