I have no noise on mine. On medium settings, it starts to make some noise at full power, but I think my Eheim is louder. On the echosmart modes where it kicks up the detrious it does make a bit more noise cause it's really stirring up the tank. This would be the main reason I might unpack my second power head to get some serious water and sand surface cleaning done. I've got it on one of those settings for the weekend and will see how my corals and substrate fair after a few days on the setting with just one power head.
