Powerhead not running!

My powerhead is not working for some reason. It turns on, but it just spits bubbles, not any water flow.

I have foam on the intake, cleaned that, checked for any debris that I could see, cleaned the impeller. What else could it be?

Zacdl, your problem sounds like you have the air intake turned up too high. I assume that's the intake with foam? It is "spitting" water, but there's just so many bubbles you can't see anything but them. I assume the bubbles are going out into the tank and not floating straight up? The force that's driving them out is the water flow.

You don't actually need the air intake for anything. You can cap it off or turn it all the way off, if you wanted and still get the flow you want with the powerhead.

I had one not work like this out of the box. I removed it and gave it a karate chop plugged it back in and it worked. PS I do not know karate so any chop will do.

I had it capped off. The air intake is also underwater, so it wont intake any air.

Its like it just blows the bubbles out, and thats it. No flow (I stuck my hand in there to check).

Karate Chop? I think I want to try other things before that, lol

Any other suggestions? The impeller and everything seemed OK to me.

have you thoroughly cleaned the PH, including removing the impeller and cleaning the housing with cotton swabs?
