Protein skimmer best bang for the buck

I have an ASM G1x on my 90 gallon reef. The thing has worked like a champ and removes a ton of junk. I'll have had it 2 years in May and I don't think I've adjusted more than a few times (usually when I've taken the foam off of the overflow to wash it).

The brown on the glass is probably bacteria and not algae or diatoms. Just wipe it off with a mag float or equivalent glass scraper.

How do I keep it from coming back I wipe it of today and it's back tomorrow any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you

Well I pulled the trigger today and bought the bubble mag 180. Can't wait to get it and finally have a decent skimmer
