Protein Skimmer on FW tank

Someone that is doing reseach on getting into SW suggested that I install a PSkimmer on my FW tank. Anyone doing this or opinions on doing it?

Would it help, not help, waste of $$ ?

The skimmer won't even WORK. The FW will not produce the necessary bubbles a skimmer needs to work. The person who told you this needs to do a LOT more research.

That's what I thought. I'll wait till I'm ready to get my SW going to find out what's what. Thanks

Yup made this mistake and it did nothing.

The only time I have seen a skimmer on freshwater was on koi ponds at a shop. Because they usually keep a good amount of salt you can get the bubbles small enough to work. Koi produce so much waste it is probably the only thing that would benefit from it.
