question about my penguin 330 filter i just installed

I just got a penguim 330 bio wheel power filter and have a question

does anyone know what the refillable media baskets are. Can i add my own carbon. and if so can i add any type and will this help my 29 gallon tank out at all or just a waste.

And if i can add my own carbon what does everyone recemond. I would like to get a slight odor out of my tank

Carbon (you should be able to add your own) will remove chemicals from the tank (like meds). Do you know what the smell is?
Personally, I do not use carbon in any tank.

The smell smells like fish. just really strong like when your at a lake or something like that

ok so you do get a smell of your tank. it kinda smells like soil with a fishy type sent.

How often do you do water changes and gravel vac?

I do a 30% water change every 2 weeks and vac at the same time. I just upgraded to a better filter so hopefully it will help. my fish seem healthly but i dont know what im going to do with all the fry i have .

guppies all 3 of my female guppies where pregnant from the fish store. and just about 30 min ago my platty had fry so i have alot right now
