I am having some small/annoying pump vibration issues (mag 7 / Mag 5) in my sump. The sump itself is sitting on high density rubber padding, so the sound isn't being transfered to the tank stand. It is comming from the pump itself, if I suspend the pump off the bottom is quiets down.

What can I put under the pump that will cushion it, but not decay or leach into the sump water?

Thanks
Phil

Try a piece of styrofoam. These pumps typically are noisier than externals though...it's a very rare one that doesn't vibrate some.

How is your mag plumbed? I have a mag 9.5 and I found if I slightly restrict flow using a ball valve it quited down. How long has it been since you cleaned it?

It is only a few weeks old. If I raise it of the bottom it quiets right down, so I need something between the base and the bottom of the sump.
