Refractometer

Some will say yes and others will say no. I personally trust my refractometer WAYYYY more than my old swingarm hydrometer!
 
IMO there better then hydrometers... You can not calibrate a hydrometers a reftactometer you can. I trusted my hydro for years then i compained it to a refracto and I found that I was running my tank at 1.028 when I thought it was at 1.025. worth the money..
 
Most people I know who run with a hydro have water that's off by .003-.005. A refractometer is a necessary purchase in the hobby, IMO.

That looks like the refractometer that I bought. Make sure whatever one you get has automatic temperature compensation. The SG is temp dependant and it would be a pain to have to calculate that on the fly if you needed to be ultra accurate (like for hypo).
