Ok I may have messed up trying to save a buck,

I bought a nice used High end american made refractometer....for cheap...like $8 shipped... but It's for lab use, like urine and blood, but it tells specific gravity.

I have a hydrometer and I compared them with my tank water and tap water,

Tap water they read the same, around 1.001-1.000

Tank water Hydrometer reads 1.022
Refractometer reads 1.016

Is there anything I can do? Is my hydrometer just off?
Is the refractometer unuseable? Are they both off and I'm in the dark?
I've read online that there are conversion charts for such issues but I have not been able to locate one.

Thanks for any help on the subject.

+1 on the calibration fluid. But IME refractometers are highly accurate, while hydrometers can be very inaccurate due to many issues (i.e. air bubbles trapped on the float arm, salt that dried and makes things stick...)
