Hello everyone! I wanted to ask your opinions on refractometers. I recently acquired a refractometer from brs. I was surprised at the difference between a refractometer and hydrometer. I always rinsed my hydrometer, before and after use. I tested my saltwater and had a SG of 1.0245. When I used my refractometer, my SG was at 1.027!!! I calibrated it and followed all instructions. At this SG, shouldn't all my fish be dead? I'm questioning the accuracy of my refractometer. Any opinions or experience would be helpful. Thanks.

A slight upswing in salinity like 1.027 will not kill fish. :)

The refractometer, if calibrated correctly is wayyy more accurate than a swing arm hydrometer.

Understood. Thanks Carey! The difference surprised me. I had the tests side by side.
