Just built a 10 gallon refugium for a 60 gallon reef tank. I have an Eshopps 125 Gallon Overflow Box - 800 GPH. The return pump will be about 3 - 3 1/2 feet below the return jet to the tank. I am using rigid airline tubing. I've seen several ways to calculate how powerful the pump needs to be and got a wide array of answers. Anywhere from 250 GPH to 1000 GPH which really does not narrow choices that much.

Looking for opinions on what GPH (and maybe specific good quiet brand) pumps.

Thanks in advance!

You want to match your overflow. If the overflow is 800 GPH, you will get a return pump rated at HIGHER than the overflow. Then, when you are plumbing from the return pump, install a ball or gate valve. This way, you can dial back the flow you can match things up perfectly and also help to increase the life span of the pump itself.
