A buddy of mine is getting rid of some retrofit halides. Ballasts+reflectors+bulbs. There isn't really any cooling for these lights. They are 175 watt ea. Would the heat be an issue over an open salt tank? Don't really know how to approach making a light fixture with cooling if it is necessary. Any thoughts or people having experience with these?

I'm more concerned about the heat of the halide fixtures without cooling. And I would have to make a wooden support to hang them. Not too fond of combining heat and wood.

U would need alot more heat then what them halides can produce to burn wood. I think u will be fine with wood
