so my pump has a 1" outlet.... i was thinking about using clear vinyl hose to hook up my return back to my tank.

is this a bad idea? should i just use hard pvc pipe?

if i do use the vinyl pipe, are there special hose clamps? cuz the ones i was using before seemed to rust

I'm using clear vinyl. I've already cleaned it twice, and this time I couldn't get all the algae out. I may be switching back to PVC, since it won't let light in.

yeah thats what i was thinking.... algae sucks.... im gonna try to get solid hose.... (like the fluval ones).... or maybe the green ehiem hose might work better than just straight clear

I use vinyl. Since the sump is under the tank and in the cabinet, I don't have to worry about light.

can someone tell me what i can used to clamp the hose?

can i use the metal bands with the screw? will those rust?

or is there a plastic version?

thanks for the advice guys..... i already hooked everything up and used the stainless steel clamps
