... and unfortunately, wasnt stored empty. We evacuated from Hurricane Ivan, then moved to .. where else, but NO, LA.... /sigh

It has been sitting almost 9 months with water in it. Today, I ran it for about an hour, then tested the water, everything seems in order, no odor ect.

How do I tell if it's REALLY ok to use? My FOWLR tank has only been set up 3 weeks, still cycling with LR and shrimp, no livestock yet, so I have some time before I need to use it for my mixing tanks.

Anyone have any experiance with this? Any ideas? TIA

The main concern will be bacteria, you should be able to test that with convensional kits, NH3, NO2 & NO3. You can test the efficiencey of the unit with a TDS meter to see what numbers you get. I would be sure to back flush the unit for a good ½ hr or so and it wouldn't hurt to replace all the prefilters and DI resin, most likely the membrane is fine.

Cheers
Steve
