saltwater Filter

I have a fluval 205 for my 36 gal. (new saltwater tank cyclng)

Do I need to replace the media in the filter?

the white cyilinders that I used in my freshwater, what are they called?. and also The bag of the black beads, carbon?

Give it a rinse. All the organics in the media, including bacteria, will die off and help cycle out the tank for you. You just need to get rid of the big bits of gunk.

ditch the carbon , its only useful for one thing and thats to remove meds from the water
