Setting up a sump?

I have a small tank (around 10 litres?) which I want to do something with! I was thinking about setting up a sump for my 50 gallon FO tank. However, its one area of the hobby I really don't know much about. I would like to set it up as more filtration? Perhaps some bioballs and that sort of thing? I have all my equipment hidden by the rocks so I wouldn't need it to hide that or anything. Any ideas or suggestions about how one would go about setting up a sump would be greatly appreciated!

There is a sump write up in the articles section. Also read up as much as you can on overflows and return pumps. These will be necessary items to operate a sump.
