Should I use polyfil in my filter?

Should I use polyfil in my filter? Is that safe and a good idea or is there something else I should try? I'm trying to get my new filter set up...

I use quilt batting, but it looks like the poly fill is very similar. I just double layer it and cut it to size. Does a great job filtering out particles.

Make sure the quilt batting isnt mold resistant and make sure its thick but not dense.

I use polyfil in my fluval 305. I put it in the last stage of the filter and it works as a water polisher. Being synthetic, it doesnt deteriorate. I have never had any issues with it.

I like the idea of cut to fit quilt batting. I tried a bag of floss in my Fluval 305 and quickly got tired of escaped fibers running around the tank. I found a deal on the Fluval polishing pads and got those just to save trouble.

I ended up just putting some 100% polyfil in my filter so we'll see how that goes...I'm don't think those filter pads would fit in my filter

Yes, I could see loose fibers being an issue with straight polyfol. I have very few if any fibers that make it out of my filters. Let us know how everything works out!
