Skilter Filter for a mini reef?

I was looking at this filter

Skilter Filters

Has anyone used one? Anyone know anyone who used one? It has the skimmer built right into the power filter so it seems really cool. The reviews are mixed so I figured I'd ask my friends here. You guys know everything!

Thanks in advance!

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

I used to sell them many years ago, and I guess they work okay. I'm surprised they're still made. As I recall, they're a little loud as they pull a venturi and don't produce as much foam as you might think. If you're mainly looking for a skimmer, I think one of the SeaClones might be a better skimmer for the cash. (Fosters and Smith has them on sale right now, too.)

I used a skilter for my first few years and even though it was not the greatest skimmer I ever used it did pull out some skimate and was OK. It`s ok but now I want a better which is why I use an excaliber.

Is this excaliber you speak of good enough for a small reef tank? I'm thinking 18g this time around. Do you have a link?

I didnt want alot of hang on backs for this newest build so I was trying to combine the skimmer w/filter.

Youre the best! Thanks very much!
