Yes, that's how I do it. I use the same salt also, but if this is happening after the water change, then it's something you are adding during the change. Think about every step you take to do the change. Something is getting in at some point. Dirty bucket maybe? When was the last time you changed your RODI filters? BTW, you should really get a TDS meter. It's the only way to know you need to change your filters.

- I didn't see the last post until I posted this. So, you got this used octo and it's been producing micro bubbles ever since, and collecting no skimmate?

One more thing I might mention- I think you traded way down. That ETSS skimmer is much better than the nwb110.

Ok...so, both skimmers have released micro bubbles? Definitely not the skimmer then.

It looks like the bubbles in the skimmer aren't making it all the way up the body into the cup. Have you been using the same pump on both skimmers? The pump might be bad, or not rated high enough for the skimmers you're using.

Also the tube for the air intake. I messed with mine with a bobby pin and got the correct amount of gas vs. pressure. If you hold your finger over the air intake, does the skimmer fill with water? It should, if not your pump is not working properly.
