I have the Marineland 100 skimmer and it just seems the performance is varied. Some days it will produce a ton of brown junk and other days the bubbles just sit there and don't do anything. Could it be due to the evaporation in my refugium? I've had it just about a month now. When it works it's awesome! But I can't stand having to constantly adjust it.
Or could it be that I have the water level to high for the skimmer to operate efficent?
This is the skimmer here:

Do you have it in a section of your sump where the water level stays constant even with evaporation? Skimmers perform best when the water level they sit in doesn't fluctuate.

Yeah I just figured that out last night, lol I ended up moving it to the first section of my refugium where the water first enters the sump. Definitely much better performance!
