alright i have waited a while it stopped when i added some water to my tank did'nt know this thing was that darn touchy but i guess live and learn is the key now its foaming again but it seems that the foam only works its way up really slow then kinda burps in to the collection cup is this right or should the faom always come to the top and into the cup and by the way someone asked the size o the cup its about 5in wide and 6-7in tall if this in anyway gives more info all that i can learn will be much thanked

It sounds to me that your skimmer is indeed working just fine. From the size of your cup, it should take about two days or so for a very dark liquid to collect about one inch high in the cup (Maybe to where that black nipple that you have on the side which is for attaching a tube that goes to a canister in case you won't be able to empty the collection cup as often as you'd should.) It is kind of slow, or at least it seems that way. That liquid is very concentrated with polutants so even though it seems slow, it is effectively working for you.
