Skimmer help

I have had my CPR dual bak pak skimmer for about a week now and it seems to be working good. My problem is that it is producing micro bubbles in the tank. If i adjust the air valves so that they go away but in doing so it greatly decreases the amount of bubbles in the skimmer as well. I placed a piece of sponge in the skimmer and this stopped the bubbles but it also raised the water level in the skimmer. Is this a bad idea? And is this going to make the pumps work harder?

Well i called CPR directly today because these bubbles are driving me crazy. I guess i have the old version since it came with the maxijet 1200 pumps and they are now using the accela pumps. So does anyone have the one with the maxijets?/
