Skimmer help

Hi everyone I have a large problem with my psk 150 eshopps skimmer. It is brand new un boxed it today. But when I plugged it in the Italy sicce pump that comes with the skimmer worked for about 10 seconds but then stopped working. Took it out and tried it out of the tank in a bucket and it did the same thing. Then i disassembled the pump let it dry and put it back together. Since doing that whenever I turn the power on to the pump it blows the fuse. It won't even work now. I think it might be because I'm using a converter to convert the American plug into an English socket so I can plug it in. Is this why or is it a problem with the pump. Because I live in England returning it would cost a fortune about £60. Thanks for taking your time to read this and any response helpful.

I would contact the company. They have always been pretty helpful. They would have the best advice for that unit in this situation.
