skimmer power

i am looking at removing my skimmer pump and operating it via gravity.

moving sump to basement. tank over flow will have a head hieght of apx 8 feet. skimmer is an aqua-c 120 anyone familiar with this type of application.

well you'll need to see what kind if preassure you hava at the pump output. see max head rating. check if you get the same pressure flow with you gravity feed. if not, you'll neef a booster pump.

kind of guessed that. i guess i would need an inches of water vs psi to get a figure along with a flow rating. also has anyone done this before? the idea is to eliminate the pump altogether. trying to offset the upgrade to mh lighting, from an energy stand point that is. also would like to simplify things.
