skimmer to loud... block airhose?

Hey all,

I have a 40L nano tank with a inbuilt skimmer (450L/H) the reason it is loud is because of the airhose that runs off it. if i close that (block it with my finger) the tank is really quiet. is it ok to block the air hose or does it need to be open?

That`s how you get air into your skimmer for it to do it`s job. Try running some hot water through the hose and it will disolve any salt creep that`s in it. Just about a cup. Also moving to General Hardware and equipment discussion.

If the noise is coming from the airline, make one of these and plug your airline into the other hole in the top.
